The months of autumn or fall serve as a transition from summer to winter. They usually occur in September, October, and November. Suppose you haven't made plans to take advantage of the beauty and wonderful weather this fall. In that case, these ideas are sure to offer plenty of inspiration.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole is a fantastic destination all year round because it is close to some of the best national parks and famous ski resorts.

However, if you want to avoid some of the crowds and see the vibrant mountain foliage, fall is the best time to go. The ski season commonly begins at the end of November. Plan your trip for early autumn to enjoy milder weather without the many people. Jackson Hole is unquestionably a gateway to autumnal outdoor adventure. It is only a short drive to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.

Visit the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole for a luxurious stay during your outdoor fall vacation. Or consider The Virginian Lodge, which was completely renovated in 2021 and is close to the town center.

Flagstaff, Arizona

In the early fall, Flagstaff is a nature lover's paradise. There are many sights to see and places to explore in this Arizona city during this time of year because it is surrounded by national parks, monuments, and forests. Learn about Native American history and culture at Wupatki National Monument, where you can visit pueblos that date back 900 years.

You can also see petrified wood and the hills of the Painted Desert at Petrified Forest National Park. Grand Canyon National Park is only 90 minutes away, so you can easily take a day trip there and enjoy milder weather and fewer crowds than during the summer months.

Sonoma, California

California's wine country is best visited in the fall; wine enthusiasts can enjoy tours of vineyards and wineries at this time of year. They should visit the winery or ride on the open-air Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley trip.

Take a break from visiting wineries and enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and bay by going for a short hike on the Bodega Head Trail. Don't forget to pack some fresh seafood for lunch. With outdoor yoga classes, miles of hiking trails, and guided e-bike tours, Montage Healdsburg provides visitors with a luxurious stay and plenty of chances to take in the fall foliage.

Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville has everything you could want in a fall getaway tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There are many unique stores, galleries, breweries, and restaurants in the charming downtown area. You're sure to run into some neighborhood street performers as you stroll around.

Take a hike through the nearby Pisgah National Forest to see lovely waterfalls among the changing leaves, or drive through a portion of the park to admire the scenery without exerting much physical effort.

The largest privately owned residence in the United States, The Biltmore Estate and a well-known Asheville attraction, is another well-liked site worth seeing. It is a Gilded Age mansion with a winery and gardens. Decide to stay in a cabin or treehouse nearby that you find on Airbnb for private and quaint accommodations.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania

A fascinating glimpse of a simpler time, as well as beautiful fall foliage, is what Central Pennsylvania's Amish communities offer. Lancaster, also known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country, is particularly picturesque during the fall harvest.

The cooler weather is ideal for picking apples in the orchards and roadside stands. And one of the many farmer's markets is an excellent place to find amazing home-baked goods, fresh produce, handcrafted items, and more. A hot air balloon ride gives you a bird's eye view of the vibrant surroundings if you want to experience the scene from above.

Telluride, Colorado

Although Telluride is more commonly associated with winter skiing, this town in Colorado is lovely all year round. If you want to see vibrant foliage in a breathtaking mountain setting, early fall is the best time to visit. Visit in early October or September to fully enjoy the season's offerings.

Take a hike or a bike ride. Go for a ride on the gondola, which operates until the middle of October, when the summer season ends. And then pauses until the start of the winter season. With easy access to hiking trails, The Madeline Hotel & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection is the ideal starting point for all of your outdoor quests.

Adirondacks, New York

Rich autumn shades are spread from the mountain peaks to the valley in the Adirondack Mountains, which have some of the best fall foliage in the nation. With so many wineries and vineyards spread throughout the region, it provides a wonderful getaway for lovers of the leaves, the great outdoors, and even wine.

The Adirondack Coast, one of the country's hottest emerging wine regions, is home to wineries and cideries. To visit each winery and cider mill, you could go on a wine tour, take a beautiful drive, or ride a bike. The forested landscape is blazing with reds, brilliant oranges, and golden yellow hues. The Olympic Trail, which connects Lake Ontario to Lake Champlain, is a fantastic one to take if you simply want to enjoy an autumn drive.

Burlington, Vermont

Burlington, Vermont, is one of the best places to go on fall vacation in the United States. Red, orange, and yellow hues cover the city as the leaves change color each autumn.

Visit one of the many nearby orchards to spend the day picking your own apples, go to a pumpkin patch, or go for a scenic drive to see the stunning foliage. Or, visit one of the local craft breweries for a few local beers after a day of exploring. The Hotel Vermont provides charming lodgings in the city's center, close to Lake Champlain's waterfront.

Conclusion

So that's it for now! These are just some of the best locations you can see for a fall getaway. Where do you plan to go?
