How To Keep Kids Occupied In July 2022

July 19, 2022

Welcome!

This is the GetOutPass blog. It's where we explore topics we're interested in. We hope you'll find them useful too! Feel free to stay and explore.

Summer is in full swing, and this means you're going to need some great ways to keep your kids occupied while they're not in school. Luckily, we've got plenty of ideas that will keep them busy and entertained all summer long!

Try a cool science experiment

Kids love the idea of experimenting, and science experiments are fun and educational for them. If you look online, you can find lots of different directions for how to do different experiments at home or in the classroom! You can even make your own cool science experiment with your kids or friends! It's easy as long as you follow the directions carefully.

Go for a nature walk and collect bugs

Take a nature walk with your child, and collect some bugs. You can use a magnifying glass to look at them up close if you have one handy. If you don't, try looking for ants or spiders in the grass or on the sidewalk. Use your fingers to catch one if you're unable to find an insect for observation purposes. Once you've found some insects, put them into jars with holes where they can breathe air from outside of their containers (but not escape). You could also put them in terrariums, which are closed glass boxes that house insects like frogs and turtles as well as plants and other small animals.

Visit a museum and learn something new

You’re probably familiar with the benefits of visiting a museum. They can be a great way to learn about history and culture, and they can also be fun for kids. If you live in an urban area, consider taking your child to a local history museum or historic house that focuses on their city or state. These places typically have exhibits about local events and people that are interesting for children as well as adults. Museums like these are also good places to learn more about our natural world. There are also many exhibits focused on animals native to your area or even wildlife found around the world (for example butterflies).

Learn about local mushrooms and go hunting for them in the woods

There are a lot of kid-friendly ways to learn about the natural world, but few things can be as exciting for kids as picking mushrooms in the woods. Mushrooms can provide an excellent source of protein and vitamin D, and are particularly high in B vitamins. They're also full of fiber and have no cholesterol or saturated fat. Plus, they're easy to find on your own property or in nearby parks or public lands. If you live in an area with lots of trees, look around at the base of trees where there might be fallen logs or decaying wood—you may spot some tasty-looking mushrooms growing right there!

Take a week-long camping trip, if you can

If you can swing it, taking a week-long camping trip is a great way to get outside in the summer. Camping can be fun, relaxing, and a great way to spend time with your family. It’s also an opportunity for kids to enjoy nature without being distracted by technology or other activities.

Arts and crafts

Arts and crafts are a great way to keep kids occupied while still allowing them to be creative. Being creative is good for children because it helps them develop their imagination, problem-solving skills, and other mental abilities. This activity can also help develop fine motor skills. This is especially true for older kids who may have trouble with handwriting or other activities involving fine motor control.

Game day with friends

Invite your friends over for a game day! If you're not sure what to play, try something easy like card games or board games. You can also play outside if the weather is nice. You can choose from a variety of games that are fun for all ages and easy to set up and store away after you’re done playing them. Cleanup should be simple because most of these games don't require any cleaning supplies other than dusting off any cards/pieces that have fallen on the ground during gameplay!

Visit a park

If you live in a city, you probably have access to many parks. Go to one and walk around. See what's there—a playground? A fountain? A baseball field? Bring some snacks or lunch and sit down on the grass with your kids while they explore whatever the park has to offer. If you're feeling really ambitious, bring a Frisbee and see if anyone wants to play catch with you!

Visit a local farmer's market

A farmer's market is a great way to get your kids interested in local food. You can talk about the different fruits and vegetables, what they're good for, and how they grow. When you find something that catches your eye, ask if your child would like to try it!

Go swimming

Swimming is a great way to cool off and have fun. You can swim in the pool, in the ocean, or in a lake. If you are going swimming with friends or family, plan for an afternoon of fun! Make sure everyone has their own swimsuits so that everyone feels comfortable. Just make sure to not go alone, make sure you bring a buddy along with you!

Ride a bike

Riding a bike is a great way to get some exercise and explore the neighborhood. If your kid wants to see the sunset, ride in the morning and try riding at night so you can see stars (if it's clear), or during sunset so they can watch as the sun goes down behind trees or buildings—or both!

Take summer classes

Summer class? As a kid, summer classes were often an excuse to spend the day away from your home, and you'd probably have them at a local college or community center. Now that your kids are older, summer classes may actually be something they can enjoy for their own sake. They can be fun! They can teach kids new things!

Another reason why taking a class over the summer is such an appealing idea is precisely because it will get children excited about learning again—and maybe even encourage them not just during this season but throughout their lives.

Conclusion

July is the most popular month to go on vacation, but it can be long and sometimes even boring. This is why we want to help you make the most out of this summer vacation!

As parents, we know how important it is to keep our kids occupied during their free time. We don't want them running around like crazy or getting themselves into trouble. So, if you’re at a loss for how to keep the kids occupied this summer, we hope these ideas have given you some inspiration. The most important thing is that you keep them engaged in activities they enjoy and keep them having fun in the sun!
