Those are harsh words, former Mr. President. Were they his words at all? The jury is still out on that, but regardless of where they came from, they are so true. Have you ever been caught unawares? It’s not a fun feeling. Don’t let that feeling creep up on you this year when it comes to your neighborhood’s mandatory Halloween party that you have to attend. Instead of trying to get out of it, go the extra mile this year and TOTALLY KILL IT with the best couples’ costume out there. Go to the party, go hard for like, 30 minutes, then get out of there. You will be that of a ghost—in and out, make your scene, bounce.

Besides avoiding parties to your best ability, make this list a fun thing to use with the GetOutPass! Go get dressed and then go bowling or go to an amusement park. Own it!

1. Squid Game

If you haven’t caught Netflix’s latest hit, you might want to put it on the top of your list. It’s a perfect October show: spooky, thrilling, and it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Though, not super family friendly. This is definitely one to put on once the kids are in bed.

The costume is extremely easy: a green track suit, and if you wanna go the extra mile, some white shoes with numbers on your jacket. For even more extra credit, learn some Korean! Learn phrases like, “you have to play the game” or “let me explain the rules.” Those that have seen the show… you get it.

I would rate this one of the easiest costumes to pull off this year. It doesn’t even have to be green. One of you can dress as the very scary robot girl for the “red light, green light” game.

2. Wanda Vision

“Wanda Vision!” Did you catch Marvel’s fun season with the Scarlet Witch? I’m not the biggest Marvel fan, but this was certainly a great watch. Even if you didn’t watch the show, the costume design is fun, and you have a couple options here. One of you can be Vision, which would require a painted red face and almost any other costume from the show. He can wear a suit, the Halloween costume, or the more legit cape costume from his fighting moments.

For the Scarlet Witch, you can do her Halloween costume or her super B.A. outfit when she is finally revealed to be the Scarlet Witch. Both are very fun, and both will make you two look incredible.

Would it be funnier if the guy was Wanda and the girl was Vision? Yes, yes it would.

3. James Bond

“The name’s Bond… Mr. Bond.” This one has a ton of flexibility. He can wear his favorite suit (black is best), do his hair nice and pretty, then get a prop gun to solidify the outfit into awesome secret agent. The woman has a lot she can do: she can wear a super classy and fancy dress, she can dress up as one of the villains, or she can also wear a secret agent outfit. Whatever it is, you both will look amazing.

4. Mario and… whoever else!

Is there anyone more classic than the universal favorite Super Mario? My wife never ever played video games and she certainly knows about the world famous Italian plumber.

One of you can be Mario, and the other person can be… whoever! You’ve got Bowser, Yoshi, Luigi, Toad, just to name a few. This one is guaranteed to win some high praise from the crowd. Whatever you do, just don’t end up like these two…

5. Dancing Emojis

I’ve used precisely 18 emojis my entire life. After dealing with them for 10+ years now, I guess they’re sticking around. If you and your husband identify as Emoji users in your friend group, why don’t you take it to the next level by dressing up as one?

My personal vote is to be the dancing ballerina couple. You could do any number of the face ones, but those would be a little tougher to pull off. You can help the crowd guess what you are by putting the texting “…” on yourselves somewhere!

6. Space Jam

The new Space Jam movie got some wild reviews. People seemed to either love it or hate it. Regardless, there’s nearly infinite things you could be doing with this. Warner Brothers made sure to show off every single one of their assets during this movie, so if you’re asking me, nearly everything is fair game. Wonder Woman? Of course. Harry Potter? Why not! You can use every single Looney Tunes character, any of the NBA or WNBA players that debuted, and just about anything and everything from in between.

7. Outer Banks John B. and Sarah Cameron

I’m… not gonna lie to you about this one. I have absolutely zero clue who these two people are. They’re from some show called the Outer Banks? Which is, I’m sure, something my wife has watched many a time. I only know about these two cause I asked a coworker at the office. I’m sure these two would do well for you. On a quick Google search, I’m not seeing a standout costume or anything that would reveal itself to be the certain look for the two. I’m gonna differ to your judgement here and assume you know way more than I do.

8. Literally any Marvel Character

There are so, so many options here. Practically unlimited. You’ve got the classics like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki, etc. You could go for the “deeper doctrine” characters if you want to get real nerdy with it. You can prove who are true fans in one evening based on your costume!
